40 years ago today, FA Cup semi-final replay win v Everton
My memories. Went to the first game at Villa Park, but couldn't get to the replay as it was the day of my driving test, which I passed at Loughton. Remember listening to the commentary on Radio 2 where I think at one point the legendary commentator, Peter Jones (or was it Bryon Butler) referred to Phil Parkes picking up the ball like a big grape! When my hero Dev scored and then Lampard, it rounded off a memorable day. Still brings back goosebumps!

"Pretty sure we had three goals ruled out... Crossy got one that looked ok at the time... ??"

I think the David Cross one was in the League Cup Semi Final at Coventry the following season.

You've got me there. I recall the Paul Allen one and Brian Kidd getting sent off. I remember watching youtube clips some time back and I'd long forgotten the incident where Tonka laid out Trevor Ross with a screamer.

One of my favourite nights. Should have won at Villa Park but Paul Allen had a winner incorrectly ruled offside.

Was 13 years old... was at Villa Park ... was not at Eland Rd... listened to it on the radio... and then watched the highlights on Sports night ... next day at school we all practised the Lampard diving header running round the corner flag routine

Nearly didn't make this, as our coach broke down.

Bloody glad we had a mechanic on board who sorted it. Even though he put a bit of grease on my face in revenge for a flippant comment I can't remember now.

One of my favourite nights. Should have won at Villa Park but Paul Allen had a winner incorrectly ruled offside. From memory I think Everton had the best of the opening minutes but then Dev took over and run the show. He says it was his best ever game for us so that shows you just how well he played that night.

Got two tickets from a Leeds season ticket holder but unfortunately they were in the Everton end, then a minor miracle we bumped into two scousers who had tickets for our end and did a swap. Wasn't far from the corner flag where Frank Lampard Senior went mental after scoring. Remember Devo being brilliant that night!!
